Stranger Things - Gonna need slings! Season 4 Part 1 Review

The much awaited Season 4 Part 1 of the popular Netflix tv series Stranger Things released on the streaming service May 27 2022. As soon as I started episode 1 I was hooked. It was like seeing all my friends again after a long time away. The recap was very helpful as I had forgotten some plot-points and reveals despite refreshing my memory regarding Season 3. The Duffer Brothers excel in writing a script in which everyone splits off into pairs like in the previous seasons and each of them works on a piece of the season's mystery to be solved. I love the dynamics between each pair of characters. Joe Keery who plays Steve Harrington and Gaten Matarazzo who plays Dustin Henderson especially shine in their roles this season. They have such great chemistry on screen. I was particularly wowed by the cinematography in this season. Such creative shots with the camera and expert choreography for what look like chaotic scenes behind the camera but it all knits together into an engaging and coherent story. I am really looking forward to seeing Season 4 Part 2 in July. Until then I am bingeing the first part so it will be fresh in my mind. One more note just to say that they amp up the body horror in this season. I would not be a fan of the horror movie genre but the story and characters were so compelling that I once I got over my initial shock I continued to watch it. Certainly not for younger viewers if they don't want nightmares.
